In the year 2000, Gary and Becky, driven by their passion for hospitality, took the reins of The Waggon & Horses. Their dedication to serving good pub food and a diverse range of beverages swiftly garnered them a stellar reputation among locals. Customers flocked to our doors, forging lasting connections, and their unwavering loyalty has endured to this very day.

As the years passed, the idea of preserving the business within the family became increasingly important to Gary and Becky. In 2022, they made the heartfelt decision to pass the torch to their nephew and his wife, Amy and Dean. Having been immersed in the pub's operations for many years, Amy and Dean were no strangers to its warm embrace. When the opportunity arose to carry on the legacy of their beloved family business, they seized it with enthusiasm.

Under Amy and Dean's stewardship, The Waggon & Horses remains committed to its time-honored values. The essence of our family-run establishment lies in the warm embrace we extend to every customer who walks through our doors. Heritage

Nestled within the picturesque landscapes of Hertfordshire, the village of Graveley holds a captivating history that dates back to the times of the Domesday Book in 1086. Over the centuries, this charming village has evolved and adapted, yet its essence remains firmly rooted in its enduring heritage.

As you stroll along the Village High Street, you tread upon the very path that formed a vital part of the Great North Road, connecting the bustling metropolis of London to the ancient cities of York and Edinburgh. It is this historic connection that lends its name to our cherished Pub, The Waggon & Horses Pub.

Graveley boasts a wealth of architectural gems, including the enchanting 18th-century Grange and the remarkable Gothic House, adorned with their timeless allure. Venture further, and you'll discover captivating homes that grace the village pond, offering breathtaking views that evoke a sense of tranquility and serenity.

At the heart of the village stands the venerable St. Mary's Church, a testament to the enduring faith and community that have thrived here since the 12th century. In times gone by, Graveley was known as Graveley-cum-Chisfield, and it was home to not one, but two churches. To the east of Graveley lies Chesfield, where the fields still hold the remnants of the second church—a hauntingly beautiful 14th-century structure that whispers tales of the past.

Despite its proximity to the bustling town of Stevenage, Graveley has managed to preserve its cherished village atmosphere. Surrounded by verdant farmlands and embraced by the protection of the green belt, Graveley offers an idyllic setting for leisurely walks and nature-filled exploration. Here, time slows down, allowing residents and visitors alike to revel in the beauty of the countryside and savor the simple joys of life.

Come and experience the enchantment of Graveley — a village that cherishes its past, embraces its present, and welcomes all who seek respite in its timeless embrace.
